Tuesday’s Faith Thought…Parable of the Sower

Our FaithTrek students explored the Parable of the Sower by practicing their listening and storytelling skills. They want to be good soil by listening to God’s word and telling others about their love.

Here’s how they practiced listening and storytelling…

They partnered with another – one being the Storyteller and the other being a Listener. The Listener could not speak or ask questions of the Storyteller. Their job was to listen. The Storyteller’s job was to tell a story for up to 2 minutes. It might have been a story about a time when they were very happy or sad, on a vacation, at a party or something they like to do when they have free time. When the Storyteller was done, the Listener had to share the story back. Then, they swapped roles.

They then debriefed…
Was it hard to be quiet and just listen?
How did it feel to be the storyteller and have your partner’s attention as you told your story?
Was it easier to be the listener or the storyteller? Why?

Reflect:
Are you good soil for God’s word? Do you need to practice your storytelling and listening skills? Take this activity and do it with someone. See what you learn about yourself!
