It May Seem Like a Small Thing…

By November 9, 2018Global, News, Serve
Sisters and brothers, there are days when my heart is full… days when the ministry we do together by the grace of God fills me up to overflowing.
This past Sunday was one of those days. Our church pews were covered in a kaleidoscope of fabric-quilts skillfully sewn and carefully stitched by your hands. They are quilts that will literally shelter people we will never meet from the scorching heat or bitter cold. The love woven into those blankets are like the loving arms of God wrapped around a needy friend.
And then, to see hundreds of school kits assembled by young and old alike on the same day! It was another beautiful sight for these old eyes. I assisted the youngest of our assemblers. They were so excited to help other children receive what they need to go to school. These Lutheran World Relief school kits will find their way into classrooms on every continent of this earth.
In addition to these efforts, just a few months ago our Vacation Bible School students gathered supplies for Lutheran World Relief personal care kits that will serve the basic needs for cleanliness and health among the poor of our world. They provide a modicum of dignity to suffering people here and far away.
It may seem like a small thing. But, it fills my heart to think that our meager efforts in Lincoln, Nebraska, are touching lives throughout the world. We can actually make a difference in the world.
