First Lutheran’s Response to the Coronavirus Outbreak

By March 12, 2020News
I would like to describe our response to the coronavirus outbreak. The goal of our response is to proceed with caution and prudence – without enhancing hysteria.
Here are some components of our response:
  1. We encourage everyone to practice thorough hand washing here and at home.
  2. We will speak the “sharing of the peace” during worship in place of physical touch. Touching elbows is acceptable if it is acceptable to both parties.
  3. We will not offer the Common Cup during Holy Communion.
  4. Older disciples should take note of the fact that the CDC recommends “social distancing” by avoiding large public gatherings in order to protect themselves. Most of our city’s elder care facilities are under quarantine.
  5. As is the case with winter weather closings, we will close our facility if Lincoln Public Schools close. Staff and other groups may work on their own if they desire.
  6. If Lincoln city Mayor Baird recommends no community gatherings in order to stem the spread of coronavirus, we will also close our facility.
  7. We will update you with any pertinent information through our congregation’s website, social media and the First Things First e-newsletter.
  8. Please call our office at 402.488.0919 or me  at 402.200.9680 if you have questions.
We are concerned for your safety and the safety of all people. We hold all victims in prayer. We pray for the swift development of a vaccine.
Peace,
Pastor Dan
