Fair Trade Sales Empowers Women

By March 2, 2019News, Serve

March 8 marks the annual observance of International Women’s Day when we celebrate women’s achievements and work for gender balance in the world. You can support women around the world by buying and using Fair Trade products. These products – like the coffee, tea, chocolate and olive oil available at First Lutheran each month – empower women by providing them a fair wage for their work. The International Labor Organization has found that 70% of people in the world living on one dollar a day or less are women and girls. When women work as Fair Trade producers they take home more income, which supports their families and their communities.

Stop by our Fair Trade table tomorrow morning or the church office during regular office hours during the week to buy your favorite product.
