A Jazzy Beat to the Great American Songbook at First Friday Jazz

By October 28, 2018Events, News

Guitarist Peter Bouffard and his quartet will feature music from the Great American Songbook at the First Friday Jazz concert on November 2 from 11:30 am-1:00 pm. Peter is one of mid-America’s most talented guitarists. He will be joined by Greg Simon on trumpet and flugelhorn, Joey Gulizia on percussion and Christian Chesanek on bass.

The quartet will also play several tried and true jazz standards, but performed in a new light. For instance, a Cole Porter tune originally composed in 4/4 time may be played as a jazz waltz or a traditional slow ballad may be performed as a Latin Samba. But, Bouffard says that “above all, we will choose music that will appeal to our audience and also provide a vehicle to highlight the sensational musical talents of Simon and Gulizia.”

The concert is free, but we encourage donations of non-perishable food items for the Food Pantry. Come and enjoy as much of the concert as you can. Lunch is available for purchase online or bring your own. Don’t forget to bring a friend or two with you, too!
