Prayer

Paul writes to the Christians in Thessalonica, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you" (I Thessalonians 5:17-18). Prayer is the expression of praise and thanksgiving, confession and petition, supplication and intercession.

Individual Service for Healing

This moving service consists of prayers and anointing for those who are in need of healing.  It may be you or someone that you love who needs some additional prayers.  Every third Sunday of the month during worship this service is available for all who wish to make use of this ancient and powerful form of prayer.

To participate in the Healing Service, you are invited to go to the Robing Sacristy (the small room behind the pulpit) before or after you have received Communion. You will be invited to kneel or remain standing, as you are comfortable, during the brief rite of prayer for healing.  If you wish to receive anointing, a cross will be traced on your forehead with scented oil.  Once you are finished, you may proceed to the communion railing or back to your pew.  For those desiring to participate in the Healing Service who are unable to come forward to the sacristy, the Healing Service Leader will come to you following worship, just let an usher know.

Prayer Chain

First Lutheran is fortunate to have a group of people that are committed to praying for others – intercessory prayers. The Prayer Chain lifts up prayers from our congregation about illness and healing, worries and joys, death and new life. They receive a prayer list on a weekly basis by e-mail.  The information is considered confidential and those praying will be sensitive to your privacy. The prayer list includes names not specific details about the prayer needs.

We appreciate it if you would keep us updated about continued need for prayers. If we have not heard from you 2 months after a person is put on the prayer chain, we will assume the situation has improved and that person will be removed. If you would like to have them continue to be listed on the prayer chain, just let us know.

If you have a prayer request that you feel is for Pastors only just indicate that when you make a prayer request. We will honor that request.

If you feel called to serve as a member of the prayer chain contact This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it , Membership Secretary.
