We are Stewards
The earth is the Lord's and all that is in it; the world, and those who live in it. Psalm 24:1
As Christians we believe that everything we are and everything we have belongs to God. We were created to be stewards, entrusted with caring for all that God so generously allows us to use -- the earth, material resources, our lives and the gospel we proclaim. God relies on us to care for the world, its inhabitants and our relationships.
Being faithful stewards means gathering regularly in community to worship God, teaching God's children of all ages about the good news of the gospel and offering ourselves and our gifts for God's use. Visit our Worship & Prayer, Learning & Growing and Preschool sections to see how you can get involved in the worship life and learning ministries of First Lutheran Church.
On Sundays and throughout the week we gather for fellowship, strengthening the connections we have with each other and supporting relationships with our families and community. The Building Connections section describes several ways we grow together as good stewards of the gift of relationships.
Being a faithful steward also means putting our faith into action. There are a variety of ways to get involved in God's work in the world, from global mission to local services to praying for the person who sits next to you every week in worship. Check out the Faith in Action section of the website to see just a few of the ways you can serve as God's hands and feet.
Stewardship is about being faithful and generous with all of our resources - all of God's resources, entrusted to our care. As God has given freely, we are free to give - of our financial and material resources, our time, our abilities, our voices and our service. Whether in worship, in learning, in serving or in enjoying fellowship with one another, we are stewards, using God's gifts for God's purposes. |
