Senior High Youth Group
Senior High Youth Group meets every Sunday from 6-8pm, and we welcome all youth in Grades 9-12. Through a variety of activities that encorporate fellowship, service, Bible Study, leadership training, and group building, we try to use this time to help youth connect more deeply to God, their peers, and the rest of the congregation, and experience what being "the church" is all about. We feel that focusing on these relationships allows students to feel connected and valued, and gives them many opportunities to explore their faith and have it inform many of the difficult decisions they have to make. Friends are always welcome to join us! |

A Work of Love
Every summer First Lutheran's Senior High School Youth Group goes on a mission trip called "A Work Of Love." These trips provide the youth with opportunities to grow as leaders in the church, to be stretched in their faith and rlelationship with God, and to join in a shared experience that is centered on what it mean to be Christ's hands and feets at work in the world.
In the past few years our AWOL trips have taken us to Idaho, Tennessee, and Lousianna. AWOL 2011 traveled to Chicago, Illinois. The group ran a VBS, a daycamp and worked with the Head Start program there among other organizations. Visit the AWOL website to read more about their trip and see more photos. |

Not in Our Town
"Not In Our Town" is a Senior High Youth led initiative that stemmed from our group's experiences at the ELCA National Youth Gathering in New Orleans in July 2009. One of the themes of the Gathering was "be the change you wish to see in the world." In an effort to do that, the senior high youth have chosen an area in our own community to make a difference. We are currently working with People's City Mission to renovate "Club E.D.E.F.Y," their youth center, which is in disrepair.
Club E.D.E.F.Y. stands for Encouragement, Discipleship, Evangelism, Fellowship for Youth
On Thursday June 16th we held a Dedication and Blessing of the newly remodled building of Club E.D.E.F.Y. Check out our blog at http://notinourtown.shutterfly.com/ |
