Adult Ministries

We want you to feel connected.  We want you to plug in!  All of the fellowship events at First Lutheran are designed to equip you and your family to live and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ.  Here are just some of the regular fellowship events for adults that you can connect with:

  • Book Discussion Gathering
    • This group gathers monthly, generally on the 1st Monday of the month at 7pm.  They discuss a new book each month.  Find out more by visiting the Learning & Growing page.

  • MAN (Men's Action Network)
    • Men's Action Network (MAN) provides fellowship for men who have fun working together on building and clean-up projects for individuals in need.  The projects are often collaborative ones with other community service organizations.  MAN has no meetings, no dues, no reports, no flower fund.  They just enjoy working together on a project and getting to know each other while working.  For more information contact Ron Thomsen or the church office at 488-0919.

  • Young in Heart
    • Young in Heart is designed for those who feel just like that - young in heart.  While most who attend Young at Heart functions are our retired and semi-retired members, all are welcome to be young in heart!
    • Gathers on the second Wednesdays for fellowship and learning with guest speakers

  • SOMA (Sort of Middle Aged)
    • As the acronym suggestions, the majority of people who participate in SOMA events are "sort of middle aged" though all are welcome to participate in their activities.
    • Gathers about once a month for local community events and dinner

  • Couples in Christ
    • Couples in Christ welcomes all people, married or not, to join in their fellowship and service activities.
    • Gathers about once a month for fellowship and service

A Journey In Time - Bus Trip

Jamesport, Missouri is in the heart of Amish country and is the destination for the Journey In Time bus trip Friday, October 8. Verla Youngquist, a First Lutheran member, is our trip organizer and Pastor Harlan will be our Bible study leader as we travel south to Jamesport in our comfy chartered bus.

The trip includes an amazing lunch, tour of the Amish country side with an experienced area guide and a tiny bit of shopping as well as a chance to see wagons and horses and an Amish home. We will eat lunch at the Gingerich Dutch Pantry with roast beef, real mashed potatoes, Amish dressing, schnitzel beans, Dutch pepper slaw, dinner roll and a slice of delicious homemade pie.

The trip is $70/person, which includes the noon meal, transportation and all other tour and bus fees. Supper stop will be at Bob Evans in St. Joe; ordering individually from the menu at your own expense.

We will meet at the church at 7:15 AM to load and bless the bus. Cars can be left at the church. Please park at the west end of the parking lot. Estimated time of arrival back at First Lutheran is 9:00 PM.

Registrations are due by Tuesday, September 8. Payment is due at the time of registration along with the completed registration form, which is available on-line and at the church. Space is limited – first come first serve until the bus is full. Cancellations after September 8 will receive a refund only if the slot on the bus can be filled.
