Endowment
The people of First have always had a special vision for serving the community and the world. God has blessed us, as a congregation with talents, gifts, dedication and caring. For this we are truly thankful!
The First Lutheran Church Endowment Fund is a separate fund established by special resolution adopted by the congegation on December 13, 1987.
The Endowment Fund:
- Receives gifts of cash, securities, life insurance, real estate, etc.,
- Oversees the administration and investment of such funds as an endowment in perpetuity,
- Distributes the income for religious, educational, and charitable purposes.
Thus, the fund enhances the ministries of First Lutheran Church.
The benefits of the fund's income are many and are used to extend the life and the mission of the church. Distributions of income are used for scholarships or grants, community outreach, mission development and other ministries. Examples include seminary, college, and camp scholarships; social service, ELCA agencies, and special program grants; and religious leadership, educational ministries, and world mission funding. The fund's income cannot be used for any purpose normally covered by the congregation's regular operating budget.
